Mizoram is one of the youngest states in the country situated in the north-eastern part of India. Mizoram became the 23rd state of the Indian Union on 29th of February 1987. Mizoram is perched like a lone sentinel on the tip of the north eastern border of India.Mizoram is sandwiched between Burma on the east and south, Bangladesh and Tripura in the west and Assam and Manipur to the north.
Mizoram, predominantly a Christian populated state, is towards the southernmost tip of the North-Eaastern states, sharing borders with Manipur, Assam, Tripura then jutting down between Myanmar and Bangladesh. Lushai Hill District was the name given by the British. It was part of the state of Assam until it became a Union Territory in 1972.Later on it was called Mizoram.
Mizoram, a land of the Highlanders,lies in the north east corner of India. The hills with an average height of 900 mt, run in ridges from north to south. These steep hills are cut apart by rivers creating deep gorges.

Aizawl, located at nearly 4,000 feet above sea -level, is a religious and cultural centre of the Mizos. Aizwal, the scenic capital of Mizoram, is dotted with quaint timber houses and a profusion of flowers. Each house has its own window box of profusely blooming orchids. The streets echo with melodies emanating from the guitars of Aizawl youth playing at nearly every street corner. Aizwalis also a religious and cultural centre of the Mizos. Champai, Tamdil, Vantawng fall and Thenzawl are some of the other important tourist centres in this state. Tripura
The Princely State of Tripura acceded to the Indian Union in 1949. This ancient land of mysterious past, located in the North Eastern Region of India is bounded on the North, West, South and South-East by the international boundry of Bangladesh. In the East it has common boundary with Assam and Mijoram .
A matchless combination of age-old culture and tradition is reflected in the beautiful handloom and handicraft products of the State which attract the visitors for its classic quality , exquisite colour, excellent design and craftsmanship . The entire State is Pollution – free and eco-friendly atmosphere .

Welcome to Nagaland

Kohima, the capital of the state of Nagaland, is perched at 1444.12 meters above sea level. Kohima enjoys a temparature climate throughout the year.It is a hill station on its own right and has its incomparable charms that other hill stations do not offer. Kohima is the cosmopolitian headquarters of 15 major tribes. The distinctive character and identity of each tribe in terms of traditions, custom, language and dress is clearly discernible to a visitor. Many are visibly amazed by this contrast.

The winter months, i.e. October to April is generally recommended as the best time to visit Nagaland. The weather during this period is quite pleasant and one can move around in comfort. The summer months, from May to September is best left out due to the onset of monsoon.

Dimapur, the commercial capital of Nagaland, is connected by air, rail and road with the rest of the country. It is only 74 kms to Kohima, the State capital from, Dimapur. We would however, suggest you fly into Guwahati which is well connected to Delhi and Calcutta.

Indian Tourist visiting Nagaland require to obtain Inner Line Permits issued by the Deputy Resident Commissioner at Nagaland House, Delhi, Calcutta and Assistant Resident Commissioner, Shillong. Gupta Travels Agency will obtain such permits on your behalf.
All foreign tourists desiring to visit Nagaland require Restricted Area Permits which can be obtained from all Indian Missions abroad or the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, South Block, New Delhi. Gupta Travels Agency will assist you in obtaining such RAP. Please communicate with us at least three months prior to your proposed visit to obtain RAP and arrange your tour. Please note that to acquire  such permits a minimum of 4 members is essential.

It is advisable to travel light. During winter months Kohima is quite cold, temperature dropping to single digit. Woolen garments, wind-cheater, woolen cap, gloves and woolen socks will be handy, particularly after sunset. During the day weather is quite pleasant.
